By Hazel Scott/ASUFor 48 hours, the Hornet Family came together to champion student success during Alabama
State University’s annual Days of Giving, April 8-9.
During this year’s Days of Giving, ASU raised $288,799.89, surpassing the original
goal of $200,000. A check in that amount was presented during a ceremonial event
at the John Garrick Hardy Student Center on April 24.
“I want to thank you personally for your support in our annual Day(s) of Giving. From
President Ross to the Board of Trustees to the Administration to the Foundation Board,
we all thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting student initiatives
here at Alabama State University,” said Col. (ret.) Gregory Clark. “Thank you again
for all you do for Alabama State University. Go Hornets!”
The annual fundraiser is devoted to supporting student resources at O’ Mother Dear
with the help of the University’s network of alumni, students and families, staff,
faculty, friends, and the public.
Clark emphasized that every dollar donated has a combined substantial effect on programs
and services that help ASU offer affordable and accessible higher education for all
students. Specifically, the campaign is focused on supporting students' access to
life-changing programs and areas such as athletics, academic colleges and department
programs, or scholarships. Donors' collective generosity also will enable innovative
research, while helping to continue to move ASU 150 years forward.
Since its humble beginnings 157 years ago, Alabama State University has produced thousands
of graduates who continue to make an impact through their achievements nationally
and globally. From nationally recognized research to high-demand allied health programs,
competitive academics, and award-winning theatre programs, ASU has been one of the
nation’s premier institutions of higher learning.
“Annual fundraisers such as the Days of Giving allow ASU students to soar toward their
dreams and envision a future where limitless possibilities await,” said Clark. “We’re
already getting ready for next year’s Days of Giving in April 2025.”
